Hyperparathyroidism – Phalanges (Rad) (2) These appearances of gross hyperparathyroidism should be compared with those in (b) where healing had occurred following removal of a parathyroid adenoma. Although subperiosteal bone resorption classically involves the phalanges, it may also occur at many other sites. These include the outer ends and under-surface of the clavicles, the metaphyseal regions of the growing ends of the long bones, the ischial tuberosities, the pubic bones at the symphysis, the sacroiliac joints and the inner wall of the dorsum sellae.
